Insignia Washer Jets - Spray Pattern Too Low?
« on: 16 September 2010, 20:04:55 »

Having followed Welung666's informative guide How To: Fitting Insignia Washer Jets I now have Insignia jets on my facelift.

I don't seem to be able to adjust the fan pattern high enough  :-/

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have the same problem and the jets are pointing as high as possible.....

Not just me then...

I think they are adjusted as high as they will go. It looks as if the jet will catch the top of the opening that the nozzle sits in if it is turned any further :-/

The jets strike the base of the screen, which seems wrong, but the screen does get wet. Not sure if they would pass an MOT at the moment :(

So i would assume that when the car is at speed its only going to get worse... ie lower down the screen  ...was going to do this mod but might not bother now  :-/

Yes that's the same as mine, it does cover the screen when stationary but it's nor as good on the move.

It's almost as if the whole jet unit needs to be a couple of mm higher.

I pointed mine as high as they would go without the spray catchingthe top of the w jet housing, they will aim higher, but that was goodenough on mine :-/

They are not expensive, I would suggest fitting them to see if you like them but DO NOT cut the heaters out of your old ones. That way if it doesn't suit (or if an MOT tester doesn't like them) you can pop the old jets back in. (The heaters are pretty useless and are not a perfect fit in the Insignia jets anyway)

How long have you had them fitted? I'm assuming that you haven't been through an MOT with them yet?

Are they fully home? There is a plastic strip on the back edge of the pre-facelift bonnet that pushes the passenger side jet back out. I took mine off and it stays put now!

The jet is a ball so will spin 360º, try and take it further up the screen. Mine hit just under halfway when stationary and about a 3rd of the way up on the motorway and still cover the screen in a short squirt.

The jets are still fully home and there doesn't seem to be anything on the facelift bonnet to push them down.

Is the facelift scuttle the same as the pre-facelift?

I know on mine that the jet assembly does move ever so slightly.  Its adjusted when the bonnet is open and there is the slightest of slight fouls when the bonnet gets closed which moves the assembly a fraction, but enough to lower the jet.

When I can be bothered, I will jigger about with it some more but presently, it hits roughly one third screen height when on the move.  Not the best, but endurable...

Depends on how old. My T reg miniface lift had blanks fitted to where face lift cars have their washers.

About 6 months maybe, but not mot'd yet. That's a point actually  :-[

Don't fore see a problem re mot, fan travels about a third of the way up the screen, the rest gets covered by the associated bounce off/over shoot, if you know what I mean.

Wonder if the system is a little under power, is the top hat filter clear that the pump plugs into? Perhaps? :-/
