Fumes from oil fill tube and dipstick pipe
« on: 17 September 2010, 21:39:23 »

I never used to see this but when I was checking my oil dipstick there were fumes floating out.  When I took the oil fill cap off I could see similar fumes.  I have done bit of work on the car to install Water Pump and timing belt, cleaned the breather system, and was wondering if it is caused by,

  -  Possible vacuum leak in not seating the plenum properly
  -  I see the right hand cam cover edge is little sweaty but not leak of visible significance
  -  I am having the Secondary Injection System acting up a bit too as covered in a separate thread (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1284399130)
  -  Was getting follower type tapping also from the right cam side intermittently (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1283521579) that does go away and I have currently oil lifters additive in the oil (Rislone and Wynn's Engine tune up), the oil is fresh and so is the filter

Any guidance or help appreciated. :-[

Normally this problem is caused by blocked breathers, but I see you've cleaned yours? :-/

Thanks for a quick reply.

The two prong Y breather pipe did get damaged when I removed it from Breather Box.  However theere was enough still left that I did a clean cut and was able to clamp snuggly.  Just wondering if it is getting blocked from stretching and heat and causing a partial block!  Has anyone come across this I wonder!

Cheers.

I thank you for the comments.  Almost doing all jobs first time I am little bit voice of inexperience  :-[ or concern  :-? at times.  I have finished so far jobs on this car for timing belt, water pump, coolant flush, aux belt, aux tensioner, crankshaft pulley, oil pressure switch, alternator overdrive pulley, all brakes with front GTO swap and brake fluid refresh, rear coils and shocks, breather clean, throttle clean and normal oil and filter.  Almost all these with information and help from this forum. ;D ;D ;D

I reseated the Post throttle pipe on the breather box as well as recleaned the little hole on the breather box.  No fumes or anything while everything is running and obvious blow by some fumes when engine shut down and oil fill tube or dipstick tube viewed.

Regards.    :) ;)
