Auto box removal.

I have a v6 block with no heads on it that is being removed from a virtually stripped engine bay, I'm going to lift out the block and auto box complete.
The box is good and I'd like to be able to offer it for someone to be able to use on their car safe in the knowledge that it will still work.

I've never worked on an Auto before so was hoping for some advice on how to go about it, is it just a case of undo the bolts around the bell housing or are there any other things that I need to be aware of.

Also any advice for storing it so as to keep it in good condition.

There's a couple of posts about this here somewhere, but..

The key thing to remember is to unbolt the torque convertor from the flex plate before separating the two; there's an inspection plate (engine side) that you can remove to unbolt the torque converter bolt by bolt, turning the engine as you go..

Torque converter needs to be unbolted from flywheel so that it comes out with box.

I've not got around to doing it yet, the chap who has paid for the block isn't collecting until Monday or Tuesday.

I'm glad you mentioned the oil, as a lot of it leaked out when the radiator and pipes were removed!

Personally, I wouldnt drain the ATF. I would wrap some cling film or similar around the output end of the box to stop it running out when you lift it out. :-/
