starting issue
« on: 24 September 2010, 13:51:10 »

Hi
My V6 is giving a problem when starting from cool
it's instant start when cold almost does not have to crank, the same when up to temp but if the temp is between cold and normal the engine takes an age to start.
There are no fault codes
it was serviced 5k ago with new filters and plugs.
breathers cleaned
any ideas or do I just have to live with it.
Note: it has done 232K miles

Sounds like the cranksensor might be starting to fail .. these don't always give fault codes, but when they go it won't start at all.

Might be best to get one and keep it in the boot .. :)

Easy enough to change

change the sensor over the weekend with a new spare Vauxhall unit I had,
This has made NO different. (still no codes)
I have found that it starts better in this cool mode if I give it a small amout throttle
Could this be a problem with the temp sensor used by the ECU so it's it thinks it still cold and is injecting to much fuel?
Thank
