Missfire when cold only
« on: 17 September 2010, 23:03:10 »

Am chuffed to bits that the elite has got through the MOT only requiring one rear shock due to frequent trips over speed bumps!!  :y

As a complete novice can anyone explain why the beast only has a missfire when cold and purrs fine once warmed up.  Is there an easy fix to this?  :-?

I do lots of short journeys but even the day after a run the issue remains....

check your sparks for carbon deposits..

check your plugs..

check for air leaks when the engine is cold..(spraying a carb cleaner)

try a compression test..(this is done without sparks)

Could be short journeys so the engine does not get up to temp,and/or not using the revs very high, both will cause carbon build up on the valves and plugs giving you these symptoms.
