Rear track control arm
« on: 28 September 2010, 20:48:20 »

Hi,

My car failed its MOT on "excess movement in rear n/s tie rod". Does anyone know where to get the track control assembly (or tie rod end) from?
I have been quoted £82 for "Rear Control Arm, Part no. 90497197", which I thought was quite high.

Thanks

You can find it in any online store... have you already searched it in ebay, the parts bin, autozone, part strain? etc... try to visit their sites or call their rep to assist you in your needs... Goodluck!  :)

Very rare failure.

Second hand should be fine but, get them in a vice with some heat before fitting to free them off.

Use heat as Mark says to free off the adjusters then get grease into the internal threads...you shouldnt have any problems with them seizing in future and your wheel alignment centre will be amazed / dissapointed they cant charge for freeing them off.

The one I sold to 'stuvaux' (nice to meet you the other day, btw... I assume the car passed it's re-test?) came off my car which had just had new wishbones fitted for the M.O.T., I paid eighty squid for alignment and one of the rear track arms was seized... it only took them a few seconds to free it and I wasn't charged any extra.

Thanks, it was nice meeting you too. It did indeed pass the re-test.  :y Thanks to everyone else for their advice.
