rear shock absorber vacume pipe ???
« on: 30 September 2010, 00:53:41 »

needing new rear shock absorbers for my 3.0 elite (1996) it doesnt have xeon lighting and i dont think it has rear self leveling suspension, on my last visit to maccess they showed me a rear shock absorber but it didnt have any where for the tubes i have on mine to be fitted, on each of the rear shock absorbers there is a small tube which goes to each rear shock. its is about half the thickness of windscreen washer tube, anyone have any idea what its for ?

As said, those are the air pipes to the shock body, you do have self levelling suspension. Have you heard the pump running in the drivers wing on start up?

yes i had a listen for it today and it runs for about a min once car started, now i have read on here that i can replace with standard shocks, and take the fuse out for the pump, from what i seen in the hayns manual the same fuse runs other things like glove box light, reverse lights ect, so how can i stop the pump running if i put standard shocks on (assuming the self level ones are too dear)

Nah, its a convenient "in car" spare for when the main deam relay dies ;D ;D

Joking aside, pulling the fuse or the relay do have same effect...
