It definately is a different disk, and will only work in the device it was created for.

thanks guys...   so...  Jaimee, do i understand you correctly in that the discs are machine specific somehow, to each individual unit?   not just by type, but by serial number or something?

or is it just a specific disc for the generic type of unit ??

(Eg, is there potential to borrow a disc fro anyone to test the thing , do i have to just hope it works, and order one specific to the car???  )

The disc from a mini facelift will only work in a mini facelift but you could loan one from a Facelift to make sure yours works  ;)

Speaking of which - does anyone know what the latest dated discs are?

I have a 2002 in mine (or will, when I fix the GPS!) .. (Max, you could borrow mine for a bit if you want - it's no use to me for the moment!)

aaron, that's a very kind offer, i may take you up on it if i can sort out a means to get from here , to you, and then to see the car....

it might seem petty, but i don't want to buy the car if the sat nav is knackered....

that's why i was asking.....   to see if my current disc was of use to test it with.

Gotcha - the car is in Epping, right? I could always meet up with you somewhere on the M40/M25 - they're not a million miles from Bracknell ;) assuming it's a day when I'm free that is :)

Carin latest is something like 2008, Siemens NCDx latest is 2010.

MaxV6 - you are more than welcome to borrow one of my Siemens CDs for testing - I have some older (2003 ish vintage) ones knocking about here.
