Newbe saying Hi to you all & ABS question.
« on: 09 October 2010, 18:50:32 »

I would first of all say Hi to you all & hope some of you could help with a question/querie I have. I currently work in Russia & a friend has a 2000, 2.5V6 Omega. LHD. He has a problem with his ABS unit & as the Omega are not a popular car there he is unable to find a replacement. I offered to find a S/H unit from a breakers here in UK for him. Today I went searching the breakers yards & found two Omega,s both year 2000 but i think 2.3cc as they were both 4cyl engines. I have removed & bought the ABS as it looks the same but numbers on the housing are different.
 Numbers are as follows.
 Old unit # 265 220 427. New unit # 265 216 460
 Old unit # 09127952      New unit # 09127978
 Old unit # 970/18/02/1061.   New# 082/25/03/3752
   DY                                        DX
If anyone could advise me if the replacement is suitable I would very much appreciate it before taking it back to Russia.
Thanks in advance & I appologise if I have posted this in the wrong section.

Thank you for your prompt replies. It seems I have wasted my time & money buying this ABS today. I should have asked advice before going out buying one. I did look at one V6 but it was a 1997 & the ABS looked to be a different type. Can anyone advise if the earlier cars were a different ABS unit. If it is, I will have to start searching again & as 2woody advises check the Bosch number.

Unfortunately it is. early car have 3 channel ABS, later cars - from 98 Miniface lift - have 4 channel and are capable of nipping the brake disc to slow the wheel if backing off the throttle isn't enough to slow the car.

I find that bit of the setup highly annoying, specially in the snow, the earlier setup of killing the revs was in my opinion safer.

I'd probably go by the Vauxhall Ident number (DX etc), as the same Bosch part is used on all later V6's, but with different software configs :y

Those that seem to have so much trouble with the TC in post 98 cars in snow (or any where else for that matter), check the efficiency of your rear brakes

I have just been checking the Bosch number as advised by 2woody. The original ABS # is 273-004-206 & the replacement I bought is 273-004-207. Also as TheBoy advises the Vauxhall Ident # on the original is DX & the replacement is DY.  Does these differences mean they are not compatable. If not I am on holiday for a week but will start searching for correct numbers when I return. Thank you all for your replies so far.
