Ah ok cool, I just thought because a friend of mine had a vx220 with the 2.2 engine in and I could have sworn he said it was a chain rather than belt.

Is this the part i'd be looking at?

http://www.autovaux.co.uk/LoadPortal.aspx?cnum=153&pnum=AS90458252&tabid=5&vnum=141

Thanks

Can't be more specific - ONLY BUY A GENUINE CAM SENSOR FROM A VAUXHALL DEALER - DO NOT BUY ONE FROM AN AUTOFACTORS.

I understand that, thank you.

Was just curious firstly that this is the actual part I am looking for (albeit, not one from vauxhall) and secondly, pointing out that in the description of this it states
" Camshaft Sensor - O.E. Siemens Original Specification"

Cheers

When people on this site say "only buy genuine part from Vx Dealer", this is because no-one else sells the genuine part, and lots of people have had bad experiences with buying what seeeem to be exact equivalents.

If there was a cheaper place to buy the genuine part, the forum would tell you!  ;)
Do contact andyc on here if you don't have a TradeClub card, as he'll give you TradeClub prices if you are a member on here.  He works at a real Vauxhall dealership. Or just get a TC card.

Ah ok, cool.

I feel a bit rude, being a newbie asking for discount from someone i dont know!

So its a cam sensor I am probably going to need?  Daft question, but is the cam an crank sensor the same thing?

Is there a user giude to changing this/these sensors?  Or at least is there a engine diagram with all the relevant sensors pointed out on?

Also, I have noticed a slight rumbling/vibration.  I cannot determine where it is coming from, but it almost feels/sounds like something is stuck in a tyre although i have a feeling its coming from the either the propshaft or rear end.  I've never had a rwd car before so i cannot really be 100%.  If anyone can point me in the right direction in terms of common things to look for, that'd be great.

Thanks guys

Here is the guide for fitting the Cam Sensor and no the Cam & Crank sensors are different entirely & the 2.2 is abit of a pig to fit if you have AirCon! ;)

Great, thanks for the link...shouldnt be too much of a problem.

So in this guide it explains that it cures the gearbox limp home mode which I obviously get, but does this sensor also cause cold start problems when faulty as suggested earlier in this thread?

So how easy if the crank sensor to change?

Thanks again

Very unlikley that its your crank sensor, change the cam sensor and it will all be fine again ;)

Nice one thanks.

Its just something I noticed on another thread.

So it'll help with the cold start?  Is there any other sensors i should check/clean whilst i'm at it?

I also noticed that when cold, theres a little more noise then expected from the exhaust manifold.  Again, because i've not had one of these before, I dont know what to compare it against.  I dont know if its blowing, or just vibrating a little due to a slightly rough idle when cold.

I actually meant the Crank Sensor is a pig to fit if you have AirCon, sorry it wasn't clearer :y

As for Manifold noise when cold? The 2.2  & 2.0 manifolds are prone to cracking iirc :-/ There is a characteristic 'clicking' noise if cracked, and you would need to remove the heat shield to check the upper manifold surface and use a torch & mirror to check underneath or remove the manifold altogether to check it properly. as the car warms up, the crack closes up & the noise reduces. It could be you have a manifold stud/s snapped or missing nut/s or the manifold may even just need tightening to the correct torque? :y

Had the same problem, was the cam sensor.
Got a vauxhall part & worked a treat thanks to this forum.
I managed to change it without taking the cam cover off etc as it ses in the maintenance guide. Came very close to snapping it though, but got away with it. So would suggest you follow the guide  :D

Yeah the guide looks simple enough so will get the part ordered and crack on with it.

The manifold looks like its relatively easy to access.......would i be wrong in that assumption though?

So back to the cam sensor.  Why is it, that when I get the problem......i can get it working again but simply turning it off and back on again?  Is it something to do the the position of the cam/sensor at the time of starting?

Also, If i dont replace, is it likely to just pack up completely and always go into limp mode?

Thanks again for the advice......much appreciated.

Anyone know if the manifold is easy to check, as above......and why the sensor seems to jump into life when I switch off/on?

Thanks

Hit the nail on the head here.

Just removed the heat shield and revealed a cracked manifold! booo!!

Seat switch here http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1163236766

Thanks for this link.

I've had the switch itself apart today, and i'm pretty positive theres something missing from it.  On the reverse side of the switch, there is nothing to actually push the metal contacts together.  Has anyone got a picture of how this switch should look like?  I tried to remove the working passenger side switch, but couldnt get enough slack on the cable.

Also, all the wiring under the seat is a bit of a mess and not truncked in place.......so i think one of the previous owners has been messing about!
