AC something jamming
« on: 18 October 2010, 22:30:38 »

Hi Guys
I'm having a problem with the AC it all works fine gets cold fast, but i have to have it at full power as if i have the blower running slow something hits the fan and starts catching the blades i can hear it slowing the fan down then i can smell electrical burning (which im sure is the fan trying to turn) It sometimes does it when the fan is running at full speed but not often, the odd thing is it doesn't ever do it when the AC is off. I spoke to a vauxhall dealers and they said there shouldn't be anything in there that touches the blades at all. Well don't know if anyone has heard of this but heres hopeing.

Whip the glovebox out, go through the motions i.e. run fan @ various speeds and see if there is any visible source of the problem

Airbag will be OK. Follow this guide for removal http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1214169060

you don't take the passenger airbag out to remove the glove box,  you just slacken the top fixings. Just follow the destructions in Mr Haynes manual - there's a 5th screw though that Mr Haynes doesn't know about on later cars (mine has 5 & it's a miniface lift)

It might also be worth removing the pollen filter and its' housing to see if anything has got in that side of the fan..
