Darth Wyatt Twerp
« on: 01 November 2010, 15:42:05 »

Hi all,

I asked the question on this forum about someone to do the cambelt on my Omega in the south east and "Darth Wyatt Twerp" aka Daz came back to me and said he would do it. He seems very nice and knowledgeable but I was wondering (I have spoken to him about this already, so he knows I'm asking on here) if there was anyone on here who could vouch for his work - he is doing the cambelt, cam cover gaskets and breathers (?) - obviously booking someone to come and do important work to the innards of your car and giving them reasonable amounts of money requires a big leap of faith when you have never met them. Just wondering if there were some kind people out there who could give him a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

Thank you very much in advance for your input.

Best regards,

Edward.

P.S. If you want to pm rather than post on here for fear of reprisal from Darth that would be great too. (Thanks Lizzie :)  )

Apart from him needing bigger saddlebags to carry his tools in, he is a pretty good mobile mechanic. :D ;D
Seriously, Im sure you will get a long list of testimonials about his work, and they will all be good. Ive never heard anyone say a bad word about his work on their cars. :y
Plenty of bad words about his "taste" in music though. ;D

I recommend you get members to PM you and NOT display your telephone number in public on here ;) ;)

I and many on here can vouch for Daz though as a real expert who is trusted  beyond measure.  So rest assurred he always comes HIGHLY recommended by members who have used him! ;) ;) ;) ;)

PS Do not let his current system name put you off either!  He is certainly no "twerp", and that is someones idea of a joke which has nothing to do with him!  He should be called, apart from Daz, Darth Loo Vader, or Darth Loo Knee! ;D ;D ;D ;D

The Bloke from Stoke (aka d-l-k) did my head gaskets in January, as well as the belt, water pump, cam covers and breathers.

Despite being flaming cold, mostly dark and peeing down towards the end his attention to detail, and particularly the cam timing, was verging on obsessive.

Amazing appetite for bacon rolls and Rick Astley.

The Stokey blokey has just done a marathon rescue job on my cousins 2.6, basically a full engine swap/rebuild and did a great job :y

I bet Daz is really getting off on this thread ;D

He did mine a few weeks back. My 3.0 now runs smoother than before and tickover is much improved. I reckon whoever had done the last belt change must have set the timing wrong... or something.....

I was out when he did the work, but my Mrs made him coffee to keep him going.

As I havent seen him work I can only comment on the quality of the final product - it runs better than ever and I would recommend him to anyone.

Will gladly make the 360 mile round trip to have Daz work on my 3.0 as and when its next needed.

Sounds pretty much the guru of everything mechanical connected with the Omega.

I had similar concerns when I started to ring around to get my cambelt done. I didn't fancy paying forecourt prices but as you say its always a risk when you don't know someone. I got Daz to do my camblet, water pump etc a couple of months ago and he's a top bloke. I can't imagine a dealer spending as much time about setting up timing when it all goes back together, Loads of useful hints and tips throughout the 2-3 hours it took to do the job. He even sorted out my Ram air plumbing  which hadn't been re-connected properly during some earlier work by previous owner. I wouldn't have any reservations about calling him again and intend to do so soon to get him to sort out camshaft seals abnd a few other bits and pieces. If you look back through other posts there's reams written about Daz. I couldn't find anything bad.

He's never worked on my car but I would have no issues letting him under the bonnet (and I used to be a mechanic and am very fussy!)

His work comes highly recommended and what I have seen of it is superb.

Another big :y for him is that he isn't afraid to ask advice... He was trying to fix a members car which had LPG and was unsure of the LPG side of things so rang me... We spent about an hour talking through the system until he was confident he understood it enough for what he was doing. The sign of a trustworthy mechanic IMHO :y :y

Just to add... I'm hoping to pop into his workshop of plenty during the week for a few little bits :y :y

Daz really is a top bloke, both as a friend and as an expert with Omega's.
My Omega needed cambelt, water pump and an aux belt change, Daz did the job. He did it very well, in good time and everything was spot on. I recommend him to anyone and everyone, you can not go wrong with Daz  :y
