and so she stood still....
« on: 04 November 2010, 08:40:08 »

Im starting to wonder if i am neglecting my mig. Reason being with all the cold and damp weather about and the fact i work long hours in the week using a company van i am only using it on a saturday and sunday.
Never really bothered me with my old car but what basic things can i do to maintain my car better as im only going to be going around 300 miles a month on average in it? Paintwork and trim is well protected but thinking of mechanics, underbody and generally running over the next few years of ownership.

so long as you do a good run in it at the weekends it should be fine, mine has the same problem as I rarely use it during the week but I refrain from starting it up unless I am going to drive it,as far as the underbody is concerned I gave mine a good waxoyl in the summer to try and slow down any corrosion  :y

If you are Waxoyling be sure that once it's dry you poke through any drain holes in the sills and chassis. Blocking them with Waxoyl can lead to them filling with water and defeating the point of the Waxoyl :y

Ill try and get some ordered then i think. The underbody looks pretty healty but if winter is anything like last time a bit of extra protection will keep me at ease ;D
