door courtesy lights not working?
« on: 04 November 2010, 23:15:21 »

does anyone know what fuse to check for for the door courtesy lights or whatever they are called, ( the lights to alert passing drivers that your door is open) the lights are there but not working ? are they meant to work as its only a basic glsi spec facelift model or is it not a posh enough model  for them to work ?

If you mean the lights in the door cards ... the "semi-official" name  ... is "puddle lights"   :)

It's easier than the "official"...  LAMP, ASSY., DOOR, INNER, FRONT

If memory serves they come off the door switches which are "double"  .. one for the "normal" internal light, one for the door light .. but they are a tad weird ...  on my car .. both fronts work from the drivers door .. but only the drivers side works from the passenger door !!!  and I can't find out why !!! Even tried swapping the switches over ... :(

Just the front door switches are twin contacts, the rars are single .................. according to Mr Haynes  ;)

Have a look a No 7 fuse ..... this is the one that I needed to change when I had the same problem and I pull it if I need to have the doors open over a long period of time.

The rear door switches from my Omega were twin pole, I know this because they now live in the rear of my Vectra to run the kerb lights...

Track 460 - 465 show the door switches, but you are correct, the rears are twin contact too - I've just looked at my car.  :y :y
