Tech 2 needed in Lincolnshire
« on: 20 November 2010, 13:40:15 »

I hve just retro fitted Cruise control in my F/L MV6, i took it vauxhall to get them to activate it through the ECU and they wanted £40 for 5 mins work, so is there anyone on here who can help me..???

they also said that it wouldn't work due to needing a secondary control unit..!!!! Is this correct or are they just talking rubbish..??

If you haven't fitted the part that bolts to the drivers side inner wing and has the cable it wont work. Also you will need the switch for the brake pedal and if its a manual, one for the clutch too ;)

3.0l doesn't need Tech2.

Though the cost is not that outrageous - those Tech2's aren't cheap ;)

I thought all these parts were already installed in the car, my understanding was all i needed to do was to fit the relivent stalk, and get it activated, according to the guides on here, its only the prefacelift models that needed the other parts...

Or am i wrong..?

Wrong. Facelift 2.2,2.6 & 3.2 only need the stalk (+ clutch switch if manual IIRC)

Drive by wire = no throttle cable. Electronic sensor on pedal feeds straight to ECU, which then itself controls the throttle via a servo.
