Hi To you all, hope you can help.
I have 1999 2.5 V6 elite estate that won't fire up.
I have did the paper clip test (no codes), but changed the crank sensor anyway. Still did'nt fire up but now had eml on with knock 2 code. I have ordered new sensor but was wondering if this is actually the DIS pack giving up on me. Before this non starting the car was generally running fine, occasional flat spot around 3500rpm.

Was the crank sensor a genuine one from Vauxhall and have you had any other work done to the car recently?

Before you condemn the dis pack, you should check the plug wells to see if there is any oil or water in them.

Did you get a genuine GM crank sensor or a cheapy one?

I used genuine GM crank from main dealer.
Plug leads are dry, well 5 are.
Car was generally running fine until Saturday, went out Sunday morning and it just won't fire. Changed the crank sensor this afternoon (after the snow stopped) and still not starting but I now have the eml on with this knock 2 code. Makes me think the knock might be gone and it has took the dis pack down with it

 The knock sensor will send a signal to the ECU resulting in adjustment to ignition timing. They are normally very reliable. Still worthwhile checking the wiring on the sensor to ensure it's not been damaged.

If the weathers dry tomorrow I will check the cable. Never removed the old crank sensor from the loom so may revert back to the original state and start again. Will keep you all posted

Also worth noting that when the car has been cranking for a while with no fire, the ECU can get confused and throw codes irrelevant to the actual problem.  Not a problem isolated to the Omega, it is common on all vehicles.

Is the car turning over 'normally'?  Is it trying to fire? Is there compression?  So many questions.

Car was cranking fine till battery finally gave up, but not even a whif of it firing up. Have proven fuel to the injectors and removed plug 1 to confirm no spark. Hence why I went for crank sensor first (knew it can go and give no code). Eml light has only shown up after sensor replaced.
Knock 2 should not stop the car starting but if it is faulty I assume the dispack has taken a fatal hit.

  My fault really, when I have taken out the old crank sensor I never noticed the old oil seal has not came with it, so when I have put the new sensor in it has not seated correctly and not made correct contact. Old seal removed and cleaned, new sensor fitted and hey presto fires first time. Eml light clears also, quick code check and all clear.
