Off to the garage tomorrow....
« on: 07 December 2010, 23:27:25 »

My Miggy is off to my friends repair garage tomorrow for some long over due love & attention.

Just hope it all goes well, having the MOT done is worrying enough!

Here's what i'm having done:

Quote
MOT

Investigate non-starting issue before repair if possible...
(Supplied are new fuel pump and crank sensor – Just in case its either of these.)

Please replace:

•      Rocker cover gaskets & ‘o’ rings – Parts supplied
•      Plugs – Parts supplied
•      Oil – Parts supplied
•      Oil filter – Parts supplied
•      Front ARB bushes – Parts supplied
•      Front wishbone rear bushes – Parts supplied
•      Rear doughnut bushes – Parts supplied
•      Fuel pressure regulator – Parts supplied
•      Flush brake fluid, refill & bleed – 5.1
•       Adjust handbrake
•      Note any other issues/problems that may need doing

I'm glad I've sourced all the parts, so its just the labour i have to cover.... I'll be there making tea and helping (interfering) where i can to help keep the costs down.

Watch this space for the out come!  :o

After having that lot done it should fly
through the MOT.
Pay close attention to what your mechanic friend is doing then next year you can do it all yourself and save even more money.   ;)

Some advice:

Print off and take the guides for the cam cover gaskets and rear handbrake service etc and follow them to the letter.

I hope they are original gaskets for the cam covers....... :y

DOT 4 would be perfectly acceptable in a road car IMHO.

DOT 5.1 does have a higher boiling point.

So far.....

All genuine VX parts used, had to order new coilpacks today as the ones we removed were knackered!  So on the phone to Vx's... They have one bank in stock the other had to be ordered from Germany!  So a phone call to http://www.vauxhallworldparts.com/index.php and they had both in stock and were Bosch items - Will be delivered tomorrow :)

A couple of pictures showing how bad the oil leaks were from the rocker gaskets....

I also took the opportunity to clean all the breathers and TB's as they were looking a little manky.

I'll be cleaning the oil off of the rear shocks tomorrow also, so i'll see how that goes.

Just need to sort the erratic non-starting issue the car has developed now and fit a new oil pressure switch.

Looking at the oil covering that plug socket, I'm hoping that you didn't let all that oil in the plug wells drain into the cylinders?

Someone with more knowledge may correct me, but wouldn't that hydraulic the cylinder if it was on the compression stroke when you turn it over?  :-?
