Looking at the oil covering that plug socket, I'm hoping that you didn't let all that oil in the plug wells drain into the cylinders?

Someone with more knowledge may correct me, but wouldn't that hydraulic the cylinder if it was on the compression stroke when you turn it over?  :-?

We turned it over with the plugs out  ;)

MOT

Investigate non-starting issue before repair if possible...
(Supplied are new fuel pump and crank sensor – Just in case its either of these.)

Please replace:

•      Rocker cover gaskets & ‘o’ rings – Parts supplied DONE
•      Plugs – Parts supplied
•      Oil – Parts supplied
•      Oil filter – Parts supplied DONE
•      Front ARB bushes – Parts supplied DONE
•      Front wishbone rear bushes – Parts supplied DONE
•      Rear doughnut bushes – Parts supplied DONE
•      Fuel pressure regulator – Parts supplied DONE
•      Flush brake fluid, refill & bleed – 5.1
•       Adjust handbrake
•      Note any other issues/problems that may need doing

All genuine VX parts used, had to order new coilpacks today as the ones we removed were knackered!  So on the phone to Vx's... They have one bank in stock the other had to be ordered from Germany!  So a phone call to http://www.vauxhallworldparts.com/index.php and they had both in stock and were Bosch items - Will be delivered tomorrow :)

A couple of pictures showing how bad the oil leaks were from the rocker gaskets....

I also took the opportunity to clean all the breathers and TB's as they were looking a little manky.

I'll be cleaning the oil off of the rear shocks tomorrow also, so i'll see how that goes.

Just need to sort the erratic non-starting issue the car has developed now and fit a new oil pressure switch.

He'll be impressed  ;D ;D ;D

All done!

It needed the fuel pump after all that, so the crank sensor is going back to VX for a refund.

Also needed an alternator as the original one had decided to earth its self out and draw maximum current from the battery!

Glad its all sorted now tho :)

MOT will get done in Jan now.

i was under the impression for a car to fail the m.o.t on shocks leaking, oil has to be dripping out of them at the time of the test :-?
