My first "Special Tool" for the Omega
« on: 15 December 2010, 19:12:10 »

Hi everyone! Well, have nearly finished all the jobs on the car and Im well pleased with  it all so far, no mishaps, nothing broken (at least nothing that wasnt already broken lol) got rid of all fault/check warnings leaving me with the cam belt as the last real job. Anyway, heres my first "Special Tool" lol. I stumled upon quite by accident

Now the fun starts lol! I'm not going to tell you yet what its for, lets see if anyone can guess what I used it for lol! Sort of clue, it makes a half hour, worst, fiddliest, footery job on an Omega a two minute job! Prace your bets! Hully! Hully! The crock is ticking! Bet now!

Coil PAC removal?

Too small for a coil pack Torx. Tool shown is 6mm / 1/4" , you need an 8mm socket for the coil pack  ;)

There is a vague clue given lol, dont view it as in what you would normal use it for/with e.g. for use with screwdriver bits etc, you would use it "as is" to do a certain job.......... lol

Also, could someone place a time limit on how long this should run? Finish with the answer tonight? Or let it run, lol!

For compressing the bastard springs on the handbrake shoes in order to get the c#nting f#cking tw#at sh#t clips over the top of the pins?

What do I win?

Then again, cant be that because I'd have been jumping for joy if that job had only taken me 30 minutes.

What's the script with these handbrake shoe retaining pins? How can they be so much more difficult than ordinary rear drum brake shoes to do?   :-/ :-/

Congratulations V6 CDX-er! You win a free burial at sea with the woman of your choice! Lol! That is exactly what I used it for! I had effed about for so long doing one side, tyring to find the best/easiest way but still took ages (theres a surprise lol) so I stopped for a cuppa and a smoke after comlpeting that side. I was in the tool box gettin out some tools ready for the next job when I spotted that extension piece, I have never used that bit for the job it was intended for lol, I have used it to put those odd spring washers on, the petal sort if you know what I mean. Anyway, I looked at it and thought, hmmmm, I wonder...... lol! I already had the pin lined up to go through the spring cup, put the bit in a screwdriver handle, put the whole thing through the hole in the hub, pushed against the cup and turned, IT HELD! First time! Couldnt believe it lol! Checked to see if it was on, it was about halfway round in the slot, so another quick push and turn and that was it on at 90 degrees, was so amazed I did the other one straight away lol! What took nearly an hour took two minutes on this side! My tea wasnt even cold, lol!  I can hear feet pattering all across the country as people rush out to try this as soon as theyve read this lol!
