Roll Cage...
« on: 16 December 2010, 18:47:57 »

I have a 3.1L V6 Omega Elite 2005 plate.

I use it to tow my caravan and it performs great, but im concerned about if i manage to get a bit of a ''tank slapper'' on when towing it and thus potentially flipping the car, if im doing say 70/80mph-ish on the motorway, so im considering fitting a roll cage to the interior.

Can anyone recommend any roll cages for my Omega?

Yep. keep to the speed limit for towing pikey vans and you won`t need one

Police wouldnt pull you for doing 70mph on the motorway. Youd even get away with 80mph.

I think anything over 80mph they tend to look at you.

Indeed if you keep to 60mph it is less likely you will flip the van unless it is poorly balanced.  Simples! ::) ::) ::)

Believe me they will as you are exceeding the 60 mph limit.

No particular brand, just any roll cage you can get your hands on, or why not make your own from a few lengths of 2" tube ;)

First of all I dunno if this thread is a piss take or not.

The maximum legal speed for towing a trailer/caravan on UK roads is 50mph not 60.

also if you are planning on doing 80mph with a caravan i hope the hell you are nowhere near me.

A roll cage might save YOU if you flip it, but it wont save the other poor people on the roads that you wipe out.

Drive safe!

Funny how the last production run of the omega was 2004, and also 3.0 and 3.2 variants.   ::)

60mph limit on motorway (assuming the van is approved for that speed - some aren't)

Not on dual carriageways and motorways as he was mentioning, where it is 60 ;) ;)
