Omega/ Saab v6 turbo conversion?
« on: 24 December 2010, 00:01:04 »

I am looking at dropping a 3.0 v6 saab motor into my 2.5, & was wondering if anybody has done a turbo conversion on their omega, & how difficult it would be etc.. Also I presume that it is the same as a x30xe? I hope so! :)

It's been discussed before. Problem is the Saab is wrong wheel drive and the omega isn't.

...so long story short, stick a v8 in it instead. There, job done!  :)

The Saab has a low pressure turbo so for all the work installing it there's not much difference in BHP. Courtnay did a couple for the Irish Police but they weren't very successful.

Looks like v8 will need a steering rack, or a cooler for the steering box.    :-?

Fair enough then, has anyone fitted a Rover v8 before, as I work with them anyway.

Is it worth fitting a rover v8 over a 3.2 putting out 210 odd bhp? For the cost and effort involved I'd want to see at least 350, with a possible 400 at least.

Still doable though, either way.

...thinking about it, provided the exhaust clears the steering box, an inline cooler would probably be the simplest I guess....?

no point putting the gutless Rover V8 in, you want to fit something like an LS1

For me a 300 bhp Rover motor would be a cheaper option than a Chevy motor, but anything over 300 would definitly be a Chevy.
I noticed that the Saab was a Garrett GT15, which is a bit small, would it be possible to fit a t25 or similar?
