Frying Tonight!!!
« on: 05 January 2011, 21:47:32 »

Now I'm REALLY  worried!

Bought this car....oil leaks and all..  Have to keep topping up engine oil at a rate of a pint or so every 4-500 miles. Have no idea where it's leaking from except to say that I'm getting alot of smoke rising from low on the right side of the engine as you look from the front....below the oil filler....mostly, but not confined to this area. No problem whilst moving, but makes it's presence known when stopped at lights etc. Strong smell, and smoke rising from passenger side of bonnet.

The leak I can cope with although not exactly enviromentally friendly.(Going to sell to someone who can use a spanner)....My Big worry is Fire!
Is there a chance this is likely to happen at some point?

Got home from a 20 mile trip today, switched off the engine, got out and could hear what sounded like a deep fat fryer spitting away!!! Checked underneath, and through the heat haze could make out the occasional drip of oil (as usual when hot)....but the frying noise is new??

Most likely cam cover gaskets. Fairly cheap and easy to fix. Where are you?

Just west of Stratford upon Avon.

Any idea what kind of cost is involved here?

Parts alone about £70 on trade card or £130 job done with breathers cleaned which is the main reason for the gaskets blowing in the first place ;)

Is this a service you offer? If so I'd be happy to let you take a look.

Go with Pete...you'll be amazed at the differance a gasket change will do. I had every single gasket, grommet you name it done, not by Pete on this occasion and she's like a new car.

Doesn't appear to be anything Pete doesn't know about Omegas.
