Testing the spark on a V6
« on: 10 January 2011, 23:55:20 »

Got a major problem starting my 98 2.5 - it doesn't want to! Gradually working my way through the possible issues and have got to checking for a spark - have unplugged a lead, stuck a spare spark plug into it, fixed it to the lifting bracket with mole grips and turned the engine over - hey presto a spark. What I need to know is how can I tell that it is a strong spark and should it be regular?
There appears to be fuel getting through and I have tried a new crankshaft sensor.  :y

Checked with paper clip and only got codes for the oxygen sensor and engine not running - as if I didn't know already  :y
