Elite rear suspension problem
« on: 09 January 2011, 13:01:53 »

I have a problem with my self leveling suspension in that it keeps pumping up the shocks  over a couple of days until I have to manually let the air out, level sensor seems to be ok, is the air from the shocks  supposed to drain off   when you switch off the ignition ?

I believe this si due to the pump not releasing air. Stick a second hand one in!

Although wait for Entwood to confirm, he's had this issue I think?

this rules put the sensor, then try and change the air hoses connecting the pump to the shocks, these should be cheap. if none of the above then buy another pump

Never had that problem .. my problem was the shocks would suddenly deflate to the bottom position .. and as the pump only runs for a short period on start up it needed a stop, engine off, engine on sequence everytime ... a tad tricky when on the motorway with the 'van on the back !!

new (used) pump seemed to sort it, but shortly after one of the shocks leaked oil so they were changed as well.. not 100% sure which cured the fault TBH

Thanks anyway,my pump starts up for a few seconds on starting up,it's just the air that's not releasing when the ignition is switched off ( the opposite to your problem by the sounds of it ), there must be a valve in the pump thats not releasing the air and is jammed closed or there's a obstruction of some kind, cant really order a second hand pump just yet as i need to check the part number on the pump i have, the ones on ebay seem to all have different part numbers  :-/
