Rocker Gasket Change for 3.0 and 2.2
« on: 29 January 2011, 17:59:30 »

Hi,

Is there anyone in the Midlands (preferably West Midlands) that can do the following:
Cambelt Change on 2.2 Petrol
Rocker Gasket on 2.2 Petrol
Rocker Gasket on 3.0 Petrol

For the 2.2 you will need to be able to supply the parts.
For the 3.0 I can give you the parts (sourced from Elite Pete)

The work needs to be done within the next few weeks.

Can you not do the 3.0 yourself? It's easy enough

To tell you the truth I'd rather pay an experienced member of OOF to do this.
Else i'll get 'I told you so' from the Wife ;D

I was supposed to get this done by Elite Pete (Gasket Change and Breather Clean), however he is not available for another few weeks. He has already bought the parts and said he will send them out to me for £80 delivered.
So is there anyone that can do this job for around £45-£50 during the next two weeks?

Given that Welung666 is in that area, drop him a PM. He seems well regarded here, though I have not personally seen his work.

Hang on, lets get the facts right. You arranged to come on Friday 28th but sent me a pm on the night of the 27th saying you couldn't make it, thats why i've already bought and paid for the parts. I am available in for the odd days in the next couple of weeks but for the next two weekends i've got work arranged.

You were the one that gave me the option of buying the parts from you for £80 and getting it done locally as you said you were not free until mid February.

If you said that you were available during the week also (on odd days) then I would have re-arranged it with you for a day during the week.

Anyway - lets take this off-line, I'll send you a PM.

Of course I did, I have a set of cam cover gaskets that I either take another 40 miles round trip to return for my £75 back or I offer then you who needs them and being honest i'd rather you get them done elsewhere ;)

I think that should have been your first port of call Raj.
Pete has been a member of this forum for years, alot of people respect him as a friend and someone that works on peoples cars for far less than most garages you could take your car too.
Perhaps you should do that too.

You can't really 'demand' that, people are giving up their free time to help you, in exchange your getting job done right, and at a huge reduction compared to garage costs. You need it done quickly, take it to a garage!

i agree with you Daz.
if you can get the job done & probably a better workmanship than a dealer at probably less than half the price then you have to wait until the person can fit you in.
my point of view.....give him a break. >:(

I'm sorry if I have offended Pete or anyone else - never meant any of it in that way.
Guess I should have worded the response/forum entry better.

its just my two penneth and i mean to not cause any aggro but it sounds like your demanding someone to come to you and supply the parts to fit a cambelt and gaskets to a 2.2 and do the gaskets on a 3.0 for £45/50.....i think its the other way around you lay out what job you require and see if anyone wants the work and  what price they will do it for and when they can fit you into their time to come and save you alot of money :y
