Oil Level check light
« on: 09 February 2011, 16:21:31 »

Now on constantly despite oil level being full. Possible faulty sensor or wiring fault. Anyone know were the wiring runs to and can it be replaced if faulty. cheers in advance

check light on the dash? if so this is an oil pressure problem, not level. "Oil Lack" is displayed on the MID if the level is low.

Are you asking where you top the engine oil up?

No engine oil topped. In other words then how do I remove oil level check from display?

Don't think so...

It's the pressure switch/wiring playing up if it's the red warning light on the dash (assuming you haven't lost all the oil) or the oil pump FUBAR.

Do not run the engine until you have confirmed there is oil pressure or you run the risk of killing it. May be as simple as a blocked pick up strainer but needs investigation ASAP

Just seen you post whilst I was typing the last one... Ignore my warnings as it's the Level Check light you're talking about!

Is it at the top of the dipstick or just between the marks? The Level warning can come up when the level reaches half way between the marks

No sorry confusing things here. Had the a new c/head fitted last week. Car running fine except oil level check displayed on the thing with the clock. No red warning light on dashboard. checked oil and appears fine. But how do I get oil level check, removed?

You need to be clear, is it:

A) The oil logo on the dash cluster (with revs and speedo)
B) The MID display, which also gives you MPG/Outside Temp/ect

Ok now its a level issue, its most likely a sensor disturbed during the HG

On the MID Tunnie... Said the one with the clock :y

I reckon they've disturbed the wiring when working on it... If done at a garage, take it back to them :y

Only saw his latest post after i replied, d'oh!

I'd take it back to the garage too, don't pay them anything either. That light was not on when it went in  :y

slightly off topic i know but my shed sometimes throws up a low oil level on the mid during a good run at motorway speeds  ;) ;) ( NO oil presure light or rattles from the engine / engine runs sweet )

5 mins after you have slowed down, the light disapears

pull over and the dipstick shows oil at least half way up the stick.
anything below 60 mph and you get no problem.

i've had the sump off
oil pickup was clean so i just cleaned the level sensor and put it back together.  still the same problem  :(

any idea's welcome
