...I was just bought up with some decency, and couldn't stand by and watch that...  especially when the poor kid is probably only being paid the minimum wage!

Well actually James threatening to knock some guys teeth out is hardly the result of being brought of decently.

Whilst i can understand what you did and why you did it you have threatened someone with violence...your lucky he didn't call the police or even worse turn around and do some serious damage to you.

There's been plenty of cases where someone has been hurt or killed over minor squabbles/road rage ect.

Yeah i have done something similar before...only i did knock the guy black and blue and spent a not very pleasant time in the cells with a 5 year caution for assault....so you see these things can escalate incredibly quickly.

Like my dear old gran used too say 2 wrongs dont make 1 right.

And yes completely agree about lack of respect in our country....not that it will be an issue for me much longer  8-)

I have to disagree with that, even the most decent person on the planet has to draw the line somewhere, 100% behind james' actions personally

Yeah, too true. Unless you tell the police that there's a guy being arsey and I'm about to shoot him you'll get bu66er all response.

Sorry Danny i disagree with your posts...please step forward so i can knock your teeth out. ;D

See what im getting at....hardly a decent thing is it threatening to knock someones teeth out,end of the day what separates the bully who"s threatening the staff and the bully who threatens violence to the bully.

End of the day whilst i can understand the action taken it isn't justified..as im sure he would of found out if PC plod was listening.

Had to read your reply 5 times before the penny dropped. ;D

That's all my point was originally, seeing it from both sides...whilst the actions were indeed admirable things could have back fired.

...

Although as with everyone I'm sure I have my faults, I am usually very placid and laid back. I've never gone looking for trouble, and I always prefer to discuss things, than argue / fight.

But tonight I lost my rag, big style  :-X

On the way home from Daventry, we called in a BP service garage, for a few essentials. There was a man at the till, holding up all the customers, who was shouting at the young girl behind the checkout. Couldn't really work out what his problem was at first, and he was "f'ing" and "b'ing" at her like there was no tomorrow.

From listening to his shouting, I worked out that he had filled his (06 plate) VW TDi up with "BP Ultimate" diesel, rather than normal diesel. He was claiming that he didn't know there were different types of diesel, and that he felt it was unfair he should be charged a "higher price" for ultimate, when he didn't know what he was filling up with.

He said "I'm f'ing tired, it's f'ing dark, and I cannot be expected to see what labels you put on the f'ing pumps".

Whilst I had no interest in his petty complaint about wrongly putting a premuim fuel in his car, I was brought up properly, and I was becoming increasingly wound up by the foul language and manner in which he was talking to the girl serving at the counter.

Enough became enough, and I tapped him on the shoulder and said nicely "Excuse me sir, the young lady you are swearing at is not at all responsible for you choosing the wrong fuel, and there is no need to talk to her in that manner".

He then turned on me - "it's none of your f'ing business mate - you don't understand - fuel costs are so high already I'm going to have to emigrate etc etc...."

He then turned back to the girl serving the fuel, calling her a "foreign s**g" etc..

The girl was getting rather uncomfortable, and no other beggar in the shop was prepared to help her out, so to cut a long story short, things became a little confrontational, and I told the man that if he didn't shut up, pay for his fuel now and leave, he would be picking his teeth up off the floor  ::)  ;D

Thankfully, with alot of muttering he paid and left. Don't think I've ever been in a situation like that in my adult life, ( I didn't enjoy it).. but I guess I was just bought up with some decency, and couldn't stand by and watch that...  especially when the poor kid is probably only being paid the minimum wage!

Were they false ones...... ;D  Hmmmm...remember me with the autoglass man.................should keep your cool and not threaten people.. ;D when you tapped him on the shoulder he could have said you touched him first and then started on you, you would have had to defend yourself then......exactly what happened to me. ;)

It does get you annoyed when you see things like that happening.....I would have just battered him and claimed he had me first

Further to my post above................well done James, you did right, but please be prepared to defend yourself if ever in that situation again, there are some real crazy people out there.

You should have took him around the back of the station and showed him some respect.......never mind all this crap about dont take the law into your own hands, Bo"lo"ks...if someone does you wrong or someone is being abused, physically or mentally I would, and do step in, the youth of today and many other people need to be learnt some respect............many of you may comment on how i am wrong, you are entitled to you opinion but this is how i have delt with things since leaving the forces and it does work...obviously i look at every situation as it arises and work out what to do from there.

But well done James........this world needs more people like you......things would be very different then...for the better.

Very well done - It shows the guys true colours for arguing with someone over something that is his fault - what a d1ck!

Its very nice to hear that the british public will stand up to people rather than pretend that it is not happening - some of the lily-livered prats in this country really wind me up.

Bravo.
