Can anyone advise on how to go about getting an lpg conversion sorted on my 2000 w-reg 2.5 petrol. dont really want to get rid of it but could do with an alternative to the rising fuel prices. dont really do a lot of miles every week but is costing a small fortune at moment. im based in the north west (Oldham). just tryin to get some feedback as to the pro's an cons of having this done and an idea of cost and wheres best to go to get it done.

Best place to get it done is DIY :y

Assuming you went for a cylinder tank you could get the whole kit for under £700... Average saving is 10p per mile so it will have paid for itself within 10,000 miles (this allows for the little bit of petrol required and any extra service costs :y)

But... If you only do short journeys then the payback time is much longer as every start will need petrol and from cold it will take a couple of minutes before it switches over ;)

You need a Sequential Injection Kit if you start ringing around for quotes and the manifold should NOT be drilled in situ ::)

Have a look through the Maintenance guides... I know there isn't a V6 front end guide yet (hopefully get one written up this week) but you'll get the idea :y

unfortunately i dont have the time, resources, tools, space to start doing it myself. was looking at getting it done proffesionally if i was to do it all. currently seen prices around £1400 inc vat and extras. was after some advice about the pro's and cons of having it done and whether or not it would be worth spending this amount. also wanted to know if there was anywhere local to me that i could get advice from.

If you're paying someone to do it there are a few questions to ask.

1) Have you converted a V6 Omega Before?
2) Assuming yes, Please can you put me in touch with the customer so I can get a first hand testimonial?
3) Do you remove the Inlet Manifold before drilling and tapping it for the injector nozzles?
4) What kit will you be fitting?

That's a good start ;) I couldn't recommend anyone from that area as I would always DIY a conversion ::)

Dont mean to sound off about this...
Have just sent a mail to 1 of the companies i requested a price from - Autogas solutions Uk who claim to have 10years experience of conversions and give prices for 4, 6 and 8 cylinder vehicles, and have added the questions listed, so waiting on a reply. will let you know what they say when i hear back

I've just had the rear end kit for miggy's conversion delivered a couple of hours ago, and that just about completes everthing, as I had the front end kit delivered a few days ago, so its now full ahead with the install,I'll certainly not be breaking any speed records, but for sure the installation will be as good if not better than any professional install, that's what's best about diy, time isn't at a premium but job quality is, specially if theres expert advice and back up available from somewhere like Oof.And the kit quality really couldn't be better :y :y

Have you got yourself some of this Cliffo? It comes in different OD's & is a 'must' for a really tidy, professional finish, plus some (as in mine ::)) LPG Inspectors insist on it before they will issue a Compliance Certificate for entry onto the National LPG Database & Insurance/DVLA. I used almost a full 10metre length of  10mm on my 2.2 but I imagine you might need about 12metres on your  V6? HTH, Regards Phil :y

Asked Teilo for a Stako full centre filled 4 hole toroidal tank, with valve plate, part No F65007714L 65cm dia by 27cm high 77L= 61L useable, and he came back to me with an equivalent GZWM he said it has marginally less capacity due to the valve plate being slightly more recessed,and gave me a price of  278+20del+vat, with sender, valve set, vapour sealing box, filler, fill line, adapter for 3/4 unf to 8mm compression. I asked Lazy Docker and he said he thought it was ok and at a good price,I will of course need to build up the rear floor. My only reservation is the weight of the tank according to the shipping weight is 44KG still the spare wheel won,t be on board, if needed I do have an excellent fall back if the rear end sags unduly with the van in tow.On my previous MV6 miggy I had cylindrical pump up air bags that fit inside the rear springs and still have them, I fitted this system to preserve the MV6 suspension in solo trim and yet be able to tow, it worked very well, much like the present S/L shocks only it gave the springs themselves extra pneumatic support to maintane level according to load.Can't see me being able to work out all this tech stuff easily by myself Kevin,no doubt with lots of time and research I would eventually get there, if I get stuck your help will be much appreciated seen the pics of your install,gave me a standard to work to :y

Hello Phil, thanks for your interest and support,Lazy Docker mentioned about some install requirements he said  I think COP11.I asked Teilo to let me have a copy and he sent me a copy by EMail this was 2 weeks back I gave them a quick scan at the time but will now be giving them an in depth study before I start on Thurs they did mention useing a protective pipe cladding and that convoluted stuff looks just the job :y

Yep, mine's a GZWM (Grodkowskie Zak[ch322]ady Wyrobów Metalowych S.A.in case you're wondering!) tank. Sounds just the job. :y

Wow! :o quiet a few syllabels there,still one thing for sure I can see it's well engineered I think our Polish friends have always been one of the best at engineering :y

They also produce some of the best (and worst) LPG kits ;)
