Cambelt Cover ?
« on: 08 March 2011, 20:33:38 »

Poking around my engine bay today, I was able to see and examine my entire timing belt.

Should this not have a cover on it ?

Many thanks

Are you SURE it was the timing belt ... a wide toothed belt.. and not the auxiliary belt ... narrow(ish) V belt ..... :)

You're right, I must have seen the aux belt. I take it it's meant to be exposed ?

Thank Christ.

The cambelt is BEHIND the black cover that goes all the way across the front, top edge just below the plenum

Aux belt is visible and can be traced from the aux belt tensioner .. top left "wheel" on the picture.. :)

This is a picture of the 2.5/3.0  ... 2.6/3.2 are very slightly different ...  but for this purpose  it works ...

EDIT .. found a DBW picture .. :)

Drive by wire, so no throttle cable, unlike the older v engine above, which has throttle cable and cruise cable and box and a whole range of other emissions gubbins the newer Drive by wire engine does away with.

Gone are, icv, egr, sai, along with coil pac and ht leads.

Around 2000 for the 2.2, 2001 for the V6 with the introduction of new engines (2.6,3.2)

2.5TD was always DBW  :y

For the 2.2 I think it was since the engine was put in production ( last quarter of 1999)
