Mind over matter?
« on: 09 October 2006, 13:12:47 »

Was a wee bit busy over the weekend with the old Meega, in between the usual family chores and taxi service! Firstly, got the new pollen filter fitted. the old one was totally black. Unbelieveable! Anyway, with the new one fitted the air con seems fresher or colder. Happy days!
Then decided to do some cleaning. Due to time and weather constraints, decided not to remove the scuttle to do the breathers, but did remove the plenum and clean the throttle bodies, which were also filthy. First 'major' mechanic type work done by me, and all thanks to this forum and the generous help found therein. When I took the car out again, it seems that it runs a bit smoother, and a bit more responsive. In particular from starting, as there no longer seems to be some travel in the throttle pedal before it bites, as if the butterflies had been a bit sticky and needed more throttle to get them moving. Not sure if that makes mechanical sense, and perhaps it is simply mind over matter, but at the end of the day it was a job done by myself (with the 'how to' of course) and was extremely satisfying. I intend doing the crankcase breathers next weekend if I can, and hope that it also turns out as well.
Cheers for all the help so far  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

The throttles can stick when realy gummed up.....the ones on Matchless project 2 were pretty bad and you could feel the sticktion.
