Estate tailgate rust
« on: 17 April 2011, 10:49:26 »

My estate has the obligatory rust under the rear wiper, now can you remove the rear screen or is it bonded in, if it is  bonded how can you repair it properly so it wont come back in a year or so.

The rear screen is glued in position, if you want to remove the rust properly then the window will have to come out...

It is possible to remove screens that are bonded in, whether they break or not all depends on how careful/lucky you are!

Says its for a facelift estate - "Part number: 9201319 . . .  To fit 2001 - 2003 Estates."

Notice yours is prefacelift - are the tailgates the same for all the range??

Identical, it's just the plastic trims that are different.

Sfunny, I've just acquired an old 'P' reg estate that has virtually no rust on the tailgate, yet the newer, facelift, 'W' reg tailgate that I still have in my garden does have slight rust under the wiper arm...
