Air Con, Now Where!!
« on: 09 May 2011, 17:30:09 »

previously had a issue with the AC high pressure valve which was leaking, replaced that got the ac topped up, was definite it wasnt leaking, only been a week again no cold air coming out.
Opened the HP valve to see if there was anything left and there was ac still in the system, so that means there isnt a leak, but its not coming? what should i be looking at now??  :y

you may still have some system pressure but possibly not enough to run the compressor as there is a pressure switch in the system to stop the compressor running  and doing itself harm because of lack of lubricant

As henry says, and if so the compressor won't be clutching in when you operate the a/c.

Due to the age of your car, the condenser (a/c radiator) could very well be goosed, they rot due to being in direct firing line from all the salt on the road.

But the compressor does turn on, so i was thinking unless theres another culprit somewhere thats known to go faulty? If that makes any sense??

OK, just thought along the same lines as henry  :-/. The compressor on my car clutches in & appears to work, but doesn't compress enough when ambient is HOT.

is there a dye in the system that you'd be able to see? I remember the condenser on my Senator was oily where it had leaked - I never attempted to sort that.

just another thought,is your external temp display showing the correct temp as if its not I believe that can mess with the aircon

there is dye (thats what i was told) when i opened the valve bright green stuff was noticable (assuming dye) but dont know how to spot it!

Another thing when the guy regassed it, he made me touch the low pessure valve pipe which is further away, and that was ICE COLD, now that same pipe isnt cold?

Thats odd ,if there is enough gas in the system to activate the compressor then it should work

that was cold when air con was was running, and it was ice cold inside too, now the cabin doesnt get cold neither does the pipe!
