You could also check to see if the wheels/tyres you have fitted are on the right way, are the tyres directional, are they turning/running in the right direction?

Funny you should say that, as the off side rear tyre is the wrong way round. I did notice, but i had picked the best of a bunch of wheels from Darth Loo knee, and ended up with 1 odd one.

You really think that will make such a profound difference?

 Isnt it worth a try, especially if the tyre is directional? Better to try the simple things first instead of throwing monety at it, only to find it may have been a simple five minute fix?

Is it the elite? If it is have you considered knackered rear shocks? When mine went the car was all over the place

No it's not an elite..It's a select, with elite alloys and leather

As for changing tyre...still going to cost me a tenner just to change the direction of it on the rim.....
So still chucking money at the problem, but yes, probably worth a go, as the rain clearance is compromised if its facing the wrong way

I totally agree with that, I had one fail on my Senator and it was all over the place even on a straight road, it would just wander constantly.

Back right hand side is creaking quite a lot too.

Sometimes stops, but its there right now. And if i grab the car by the roof rails and rock it, then i get the squeak, squeak you'd expect.

I take it this is further evidence of rear bushes?

I dont fancy changing shockers as well......
Sooner be selling the car than spending money on replacing every component lol.

rear shocks are relatively cheap for non self levelling but check to see how it settles after giving it a rock at the back end and have a look for oil on the shocks, i would say changing the tyre to the right way well that just should be done as a matter of course in my opinion!(i wouldn't write the car off for a tenner!!) but i hear where you're coming from with throwing money at an old car but i'd say this once you've got it sorted then you should have a good car that should be relatively problem free for a while (well that's what i'm hoping anyway!) so i would say at this point stick with it and get it right and you'll soon have it handling right and then you can enjoy it, i come home from work in mine throw the cruise on and sit back and relax i think it's a great car even if it's old and not the most beautiful on the road!!

well that's pointing to donuts just do them pita job but once done i'm sure i'm not really sure if mine need doing but when i have the time i'll do them and have peace of mind because i'm sure when these cars are properly setup they must be the ultimate cruiser!

You're certainly right about it being a great cruiser.
on the 1200mile round trip to scotland i just did it was great.

Happily sit at good speed and still have enough poke to overtake without changing down lol.

As for rear bushes. I'll get them ordered, and maybe do them the same time i fit the new exhaust middle and back.
(Be a long day....but i got a chisel and a hammer handy if i need em.....
At least they are only £28 for the pair delivered.

Front wishbones as well....and then tyre swapped round....and then WIM setup....should be spot on then....
I fancy lowering it on springs tbh, cos it rolls a little too much for my liking in the twisties, But they maybe helped by fitting new Antiroll bar bushes too, or poly bushing them....
