Another day, still not much done
« on: 27 January 2008, 18:04:29 »

A cambelt on an ex-plod 3.0l.  What a bastard one.  This was all stripped down ready to go, but still took 4hrs just to get the belt on.  Just couldn't get it lined up.  Then the tension slipped, and jumped  some teeth on crank.  Still, got there in the end.

Handbrake on MV6, as its due MOT soon.

Managed to get rid of the last of M_DTM's junk down the tip as well, made it down at right time when the operators there were all drinking tea.

Still not tidied garage :(

Good day today. Cleaned, polished and waxed the Omega, cleaned and vacuumed inside. Checked oil, water and all fluids and found all in tip top condition. Started engine and found a leak in the exhaust in the mid-section to cat section joint, so I'll fix that at my evening class tomorrow night.

Mrs Golfbuddy came home with her filthy shed of an Astra so I thought I'd be a nice chap and check her oil and water and I've been meaning to put some Coppaslip on the battery terminals ever since I replaced the battery six months ago.

When I looked at the dip stick it was clean as a whistle, I mean totally free of oil. So, almost 2 litres later it was about where it should be. Can't see any leaks so I'll keep an eye on that. I suppose it's one way to make sure that your oil and water don't mix, don't put any oil in the car.  ;D ;D

Do they use exhaust bandages in your evening class then?  ;D

My repair is still holding.......but rest of exhaust is starting to look in a sorry state  :(

Perhaps I should wrap it all up in exhaust bandage  ;D :D

Well today I fitted an amp from freecycle - if it is good it stays if not - it gets replaced as and when.

This afternoon, I climbed on the shed and cut back a tree rubbing holes in the roof, then stapled felt over the holes, then got some roof sealer from gnomebase and painted over the patch repairs.

This summer =  new shed roof.

Next dry weekend fit the speaker cables. signal lead and power leads.

Next after swap speakers and change from H/U out to amp

Bloody hope not. Up on the lift, take it apart and rejoin it properly with some exhaust cement. Should do the trick nicely.  :y
