would you adam and believe it?
« on: 30 January 2008, 20:53:41 »

Put me miggy in a garage today as had trouble with co emmissions and to get mot.Explained about it failing on emissions and what i had checked to try to cure the prob.(lambda, etc, maf al checked out ok) so guy said he would put the laptop onit and see what they get.
Stone me no error codes and they tested the emissions and said it was fine, did the test, and issued the ticket.Chuffed to bits. Not only for the ticket, but also not getting ripped off by the first garage who said i needed a new egr.
Thanks to those who gave me pointers in the co woe thread of what to check.

It's bad to see there's still rogue garages out there  :(
I guess there always will be.
My advice is= When you find a good one (usally what someone's recommended) stick with them.
I fortunately have found a a garage for the things i can't do (MOT's), that are very trust worthy  :)

if you have the emisions readout from the first garage that failed it and your not  happy then there is an appeal system in place that you can use.  all our emision testers are callibrated twice a year and should be the same (depending on make) as another garage ;)

Nope did not give me emissions read out, said they did not print it out.Which made me suspicious they were trying to fleece me,paid the mot fee and left.

This last garage i went to was a recommendation from a friend, kinda impressed with them as the guy said the fault code readout,If any, doesnot mean the part is at fault but may be an associated prob they would have to track down.
lucky for me no faults.
