3.0 v6 cams A + E ? strange
« on: 25 June 2011, 10:46:41 »

Hi guys just been checking some heads i have here that have been reconned at prodrive uk (apparently). They are mint with brand new cams A + E cams , i have been told by the bloke that had it done that he went for high lift cams while he was at it , they have GM stamped on them and are 3.0 heads from a 99 omega mv6. any idea why A+E cams would have been fitted or maybe reprofiled?

They may be reprofiled standard cams, of course.

But what has been done to the heads? I would have thought, if you were going to fit hotter cams you would also port the heads, and vice versa. "Reconditioned" implies they remain standard in that respect.

Yes, normally A and G on the X30XE. :-/

You an measure the lift with a DTI on the cam follower as you turn the cam from no lift to maximum lift in the head, or measure the diameter across the base circle and then from tip of the lobe to the base and subtract one from the other.

An E in standard form would be a 2.5 exhaust cam which has lower lift than a 3.0 one.
