Spraying Irmischer Grille
« on: 01 February 2008, 12:39:19 »

Is it possible to remove and spray my own grille? What would I need? Mine is very badly scratched...

Yes, it's easy to remove the chrome V and the black grille just unscrews, so you're left with just the painted part.

Sand it down with progressively finer wet & dry, keep wetting it to clear the sanded off paint. once you have a nice smooth finish just spray it, several light coats. Probably don't need primer as you're coating the existing paint the same colour, unless you sand it right down to the plastic in which case you must use plastic primer first.

If it's metallic you'll need to lacquer it too. There should be more detailed instructions available on the net. It's not hard, just needs a lot of patience and some practice. You won't get as good a finish as a good paint shop though.
