Can remember being clobbered by the metalwork teacher with a hammer shaft.
My own fault for skiving off into the back room for a crafty smoke.
As you say Tony they'd be sent down for it nowadays, but I don't feel it ever did me any harm.

Probably quite the opposite...   ...as this doesn't happen now, we've ended up with a society of 'happy slappers' who think they can get away with anything   - though the look on their face when you go for them is a picture
