bit basic, but check the battery terminals are fully connected, they are known to be troublesome if bit loose  :y

Started first turn this morning . checked battery terminals and all connections. no faults coming up with the pedal trick  :-?. Could be crank sensor. Still on original (155k) so far.
If it is the crank sensor dying on me would it store a fault? or would it only show the fault when it goes completely?

the cranksensor is a bit funny with codes, sometimes they show sometimes they dont  :(, also can throw up other unrelated codes  :-/
but you do have the symptoms of a failing crank sensor so personally i would change asap so not to get stranded somewhere  :y
