BROKEN CLUTCH!!!!!
« on: 16 July 2011, 18:13:29 »

What else can be wrong?
While taking my gearbox out to fix my slave cylinder, I have found two broken cats a destroyed reliese bearing and slave cylinder AND when I got the clutch out, the straps on the pressure plate were all broken!! Never seen that before?

If u think your clutch was bad...  take a look at mine..  this was just over 18 months old... http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1308684423/new

I sourced a complete clutch kit..  Friction plate, pressure plate and slave cylinder all for less than £170. If u want I get put you in contact with some people.

This happened to mine. Original VX part. Only done about 135k  :). Flywheel was very worn. (to much play) Think this had something to do with it. Also had trouble changing from 1st to 2nd. put second hand box in new clutch and a flywheel from a 65k engine.
Still a bit clunky from 1st to second but much better than before.

Holy moly man! My pressure ring is still in one piece, it's just off the straps that hold it to the case and the friction plate is worn but nothing to get excited about.
For me, it was just the in taking it part ready to fix the slave cylinder, I found so much more wrong....  :(

well lucky that you found out now rather than some months down the line...  causing you more hassle than you have now.

even though its just your friction plate thats worn, personally I would still change the whole thing...  better safe than sorry.  Then do what i did, get the clutch refirbed  and than u have a spare...

The refirb on mine cost £100..  that was for the friction and pressure plate... and the warrenty I got with it was brilliant...  " year unlimited mile...(just to point out..  I used a refirbed clutch on mine.. and I have no probs at all..  plus got a better warrenty than you would get on a new one)

I didn't know they did refurbs on clutches???
Just to be clear, my friction plat is worn un-evenly, the pressure plate in pieces, there are no ball bearings in the release bearing and the slave cylinder has thrown up it's guts!
The good news is that the flywheel is fine  :y

Jordan, I am always up for making a saving so if you could give me details of your parts guy that would be great, thanks!  :y :y :y

If you can get hold of a Helfrauds Trade Card, mine cost me £125 last year for a Sachs Kit...  Although, that was without the Slave Cylinder...
