Vauxhall own-brand Semi-synthetic 10W-40
« on: 02 February 2008, 12:26:05 »

Just been to Tamworth Vauxhall to get oil and filter.  Asked for Vauxhall own-brand Semi-synthetic 10W-40 for which I was quoted £26 for 5L!

I questioned the price and asked if it could be done at trade price and he charged £26 for 6L of oil, new filter and rubber sump seal.

Having read a few threads on hear saying how cheap Vx oil is, I was quite surprised. Is this now the going rate or have I just been stung?  :-/

Trade price and TradeClub isnt the same thing. IIRC Trade Price is -10% Trade club is different and the discounts vary.

Buying 1 5L bottle isnt really a 'trade' purchase.

I buy 4 cans at a time in a cardboard box. Its buy 3 get 1 free, and iirc comes to about £8inc vat per 5L

That isn't that bad, if you have the later filter (seperate filter element) that's £4.64 (£3.06 on TC) and a new sump plug is £4.39.

He bought just the rubber seal, not the whole drain plug....

Hi All,
Yesterday I bought 20 L on the 4 for 3 Trade club offer.
Charged £33.52 inc VAT  ie £8.38 5 L can.

On this one transction alone I must have saved more than the £20.00 subscription to TC

Hi there Neil_MV6, as you can see I live just around the corner. Trade Club ie Autobahnstormers gave the following prices :- 5L semi engine oil 21.80 = 8.69 / oil filter 4.09 = 1.11 / sump seal 0.17.
Make contact if you want to use the card  :y
