ciggy cable required

I have a battery jumper for the car, but the charge cable has broken. Its an odd one too...

Its a male ciggy to mains 3 pin plug.

On the battery jumper is a female ciggy (like in a car) so i need something that goes from male ciggy to standard 3 pin plug.

But having trouble finding a cable, tried maplins. Anyone know of a source?

Make one ??  Male ciggies on sale in most accesory shops, and a standard 3 pin plug in any supermarket these days ??

HOWEVER TAKE CARE !!!

Are you CERTAIN the input to the device is mains voltage ?? Many of these things have voltage regulators/transformers built into the plugs so you MUST ensure you input the correct voltage or you risk fire and/or electric shock !!!

I assume there isa transformer on the 3 pin plug or in line, can you not replace the broken cable or is it the transformer that has gone?

Would have thought having a male ciggy plug on the end of a 240V cable would be somewhat dangerous myself.
Live pin sticking out the end for anyone to electrocute themselves on.
Isn't there a transformer built into the cable to drop to a 12v output?

i don't remember seeing a transformer on it... but i think the plug was massive, so it must have been built into the plug?? not sure where i put the damaged cable now  :-/

It'll be a step down to a suitable charging voltage for the battery, so about 13.8v DC. Voltage will be critical so just buying a 12v adaptor is either going to overcharge the battery or not charge it at all.

I would buy something like this and then put a cigar lighter plug on it:

Make sure the positive conductor goes to the tip of the cigar lighter plug and try to buy a plug with an integral fuse to protect the wiring if it goes wrong.

What's wrong with the existing one? Might just be a broken wire?

Does the plug have the output spec on it, you could probably adapt any charger as long as it was a 12volt. Just remember to get the positive and negative terminals right. You can buy  male plug amost anywhere.

the old cable, the male ciggy adaptor has cracked, and chipped, it does not go in quite right.

Does not charge at-all last time i used it.

Bodge a new cig lighter plug into the wiring.
I'm sure uncle TB will help for an extortionate a small fee.

This is the ciggy bit... i guess i could chop the buggered one off and solder  a new one on?
