Excuse the dim question but is there a top front suspension bush that should be replaced when putting new shox / springs in?

iirc, there is a small rubber bush that comes with the shock.

there is also a bearing race that needs cleaning / regreasing or replacing,.

Top support mount can wear so should be checked and replace if needed

May as well do it when upgrading other suspension component!

Similarly for the baring race?

Just need to clean the ball bearings, then grease up after.

No Polly available afaik so vx, good second hand, or might be worth a call to Allgermanparts for a lemforder price.

But ime it's just a case of cleaning and greasing the baring, make sure the race surface is not pitted and wack em back in.

Remember to measure the camber as best you can prior to dismantling and set it back the same or as best you can after...? And all that...?

My tame indep is gonna do it all! Using Eibach adjustable camber bolts to get is back spot on after lowering.

No point in fitting second hand, you might as well use your old one again.
THISis what you`re looking for, they can perish around the insert and they can also get compressed which you would only notice by comparing yours to a new one. If the rubber looks in good condition then just re grease and re fit.

Just phoned VX dealer for Top bush (£90-vat) and bearing (£20+vat)!!!!!!!!!!!

EPC doing kit for BOTH sides at £88!!

If I am going to the trouble of putting the Eibach / billies on I cant see the point in NOT replacing the bushes as otherwise they will the be the weak point.

Yes, fit good second hand. Thay do fail, obviously, but it's not common. The price of new ones, is the point if fitting second hand.

How will you know if they're good? I accept that you can tell if they're completely shagged, but that's as good as it gets.

Spent this afternoon fitting new front shocks and stut tops to my cat to cure the awful judder and creaking from the front N/S of my car. The bearing was dry(hence the creak), and the strut was so bad that it had no damping left, and had worn through the (hard) chrome plating on the piston rod. It's also got poly bushes now, and drives much better.

Although my tyres do now badly need replacing as the inner edges are just breaking through to the cords.
