I would agree with that - the 2.5 manual should get off the line quicker (manual and lower geared), but when the 3.0 starts to sing, its off.

I've had funny looks removing Omega bumpers on a campsite before as well.  People simply don't understand

I used to deliver from Gloucester to London down the A40 and I knew the road well, good in a loose 2.0 Carlton

I met the user a few months later, he said it went like a rocket

Last night, Markie and I had the chance to test miggy against miggy on an empty dual carraigeway back from Oxford private road.

I was in my facelift 2.5 manual, he was in the 3.0 Auto Elite Estate.

We must have both been thinking the same thoughts at the lights... which miggy is quicker!

Well, to begin with the 3.0 got away a little quicker.. but I gave the 2.5 everything it had, and I definately had the leading edge. Grinning, I changed from 2nd to 3rd gear at just under the red line, and booted it in third.

Thinking "I'll leave it behind me".. the 3.0 suddently came effortlessly sailing past me  

I kept pulling in 3rd gear to just under 90mph, and then gave up, 'cos the Elite was practically on the horizon, and it was obvious which car was quicker.

Bearing in mind that the 3.0 Estate doesn't yet have the multirams properly working!

The 2.5 is not slow, and is running very nicely, so there's obviously a big improvement between the two engines?

You wanna try getting off the line with a 1.6 sewing machine under the bonnet.

The 3.0 auto is quick ......... but try a GSXR - o-60 in 3 secs , 0-100 in 6.5 !!!!!

Thats a better buzz ......... and better mpg !

said that I am happy with my 2.6

The multiram will make bugger all difference under those conditions....as the engine will be permanently above the 4K rpm range it operates in.

Even both cars had the same engine and gear ratios,

the difference in clutch,maf, oil,spark conditions and tire friction differences would lead to different timings in the long run..

..2.5 manual gearbox and final drive has exact same ratios as the AR35? Somehow I doubt it....

... but Parkers reckon the 3.2 MV6 gains 4 BHP by not having leather trim
