don't worry, some of your belt you've changed is sliding, not tensioned enough! That noise is caused by smuggling how some belt is sliding on it's roller or tensioner! Check 'em and give feedback!

If you put your location in your profile there might be someone nearby who can have a look/listen :)

Hi Paul,

I have just registered on here, and noticed your 'Whistle' message, I only drive my wifes Omega when I need to, but have a BMW 735i myself, ( I can hear all the groans already),
but had the same problem, which also baffled the techies at our local dealer, I had done same as some have been suggesting, pullies etc, even changing water pump, alternator but still same, then in desperation got the wd40 out and started spraying anything I could see, gaskets etc in case of a leak, now I am assuming yours is fuel injected with plugs etc, like both our cars, I sprayed the bottom of the injectors whilst the car was running, and the whisle stopped ;D, all nice and quiet  ;D ;D, appears to be a defective seal, so used some spray grease round base of injector whilst still insitu till i'm able to take them out and replace seals, car has been to Ireland and back, plus running around locally, still quiet.

Hope this helps, Good Luck

Have you checked the seal between the breather box on the plenum and the plenum?? Its got a little horse shoe shape bit of rubber coming out from it...can cause a whistling noise if its gone...replacement is only a few pence from Vauxhall if its that :y

Hi,

check bearings! One of them can be dry or aged!
