sorry I mean just cheapo £10 TC rear pads, they are same ones fitted to 3.0 and apart from the vented rear disc how much difference can there be?  :-/

Could always say sod vented, put some standard rear discs on and new pads from a breaker here for a damn site less than £70

you'd have to change the calipers as well

And why would you want to downgrade the braking system? :-/ :-/

They stop a 3.0 facelift fine, why should 3.2 be an issue?  :-/

Stopping isn't my concern but it would be an insurance nightmare if the worst were to happen ;) ;)

Oh... And they may stop a 3.0 OK but the braking on my 3.2 is noticeably better when pushed hard ;) ;)

Cheers Andy, you're a gent! No such beast as TC vented rear pads, then :(

[edit] Although £50 is not really a huge amount for the things that stop you running into the back of a truck.. :)

Pretty certain the pads didn't change between vented and non vented, despite the gm part number.

The TC site no longer lists any rear pads for Omegas, but andyc has given part no above.

The TC ones are soft as cheese, but I prefer them. Just have to wash the rear wheels often ;D

I just want pads that don't squeal like a stuffed pig*  ;D could maybe get away with greasing the shims, but, since I have no history of them being changed.. might as well change them while I'm in there.

I'll give Andy a call tomorrow or Friday, whenever work gives me the opportunity!

(*Ok, also handy if they stopped the car..)

Seem to remember, last time I did brakes...

Front tc pad and disc set £80(odd)

Rear pads not on tc, so fitted oe (on tc?), with pins, shims and springs for £47 ishorsomethinglikenearwhatandysaid...

Found rear oe pads to be superior, and replaced the new tc pads with oe at £70 odd a front axle set.
Like oe I do! Happy days! :y (fronts are steep though Andy  ;) )

It's what the car left the factory with, in theory.

Tc  pads are supposed to be for use on part worn discs from what I gather, which is strange as they are sold with new discs in the trade club disc and pad set withthat redicilously large shamfer on leading and trailing edges.

Having said that, for £14 tc pads will do for most people.

OE is the GM factory spec pad, and quite expensive.

Tradeclub only list GM's 'aftermarket' (ie, competitively priced) pads.

The TC pads are undoubtedly softer, and do create a whole heep of brake dust if driven aggressively.

Personally, I am still on the fence about OE v TC fronts.  I prefer TC rears, as I think they help the Traction Control do a job before having to tell the engine to bog down.

... And it's a prime example of how one component fits in with everything else, getting the balance right for the owner etc.

What suits one owner doesn't necessarily suit another.  :)
