Nice in it's day, but I reckon you'd be really disappointed. We....ahem....senior fellows have fond memories of lots of things, but.........

Space 1999 was on the telly the other day and I said to my missus 'I used to love this'. Watched it for five minutes and felt totally embarrassed by how bad it was. :(

I'm afraid I couldn't agree more. I loved several of my early cars but just know how poor they were compared to what I have driven over the last few years.

History should remain just where it is; in the past.  :(

Same reasoning as saying "Never meet your heroes".
In it's day a super car but compared to modern day vehicles I think you would be disappointed.

This was the first car that i drove, i will never forget it as the Police stopped me in 1976 for driving with no license or Insurance.
I am glad those silly days have gone.

I see what you all mean & i would'nt pay that if i could but i'm happy in an old car. I'm guessing the 0-60 on that 'Tina is about 15/16secs. not at all fast, but it's the charm & feel of these older cars that floats my boat.I still love taking the Merc & the Landy round the block.
I'm still getting a Mk3 tina when i've sold the Landy as a weekend toy for local steam shows but that'll only be £1000 or so.
I run the Mig 'cos it's a proper RWD car with a boot @ one end & a bonnet the other, so sorry but i like the nostalgia. 8-)

Mine was a 1966, not in 1966 I must add, Mki GT noisey, fast for it's time and great fun. I do however take the point that we sometimes look back with rose coloured glasses. Like the early Cortina's however I doubt you will get a decent Mk3 for £1000, not since 'Life on Mars' raised their profile. :)

I cursed Life on mars for putting Mk3 prices into Mars at the time but so many sellers have dragged theirs out in the hope of cashing in that they've dropped again, believe me i watch 'em. I would'nt bid without viewing, but mates can weld, spares are available, bodywork/spraying all done in house. You can fix most things with a few spanners, a hammer, mole grips & a few bits of wire. I grew up with these cars & understand them. Folks run & restore classic cars. I've also still got a void bush puller! Much as i love my Mig i don't understand it. I open the bonnet ,gulp & shut it again. Other than a service i pay trusted friends to look after it. In 20 or 30 years time Migs will be classics. :y

Yep I tent to agree, you can't tinker arounder the bonnet like you used to, there again more reliable as a rule, swings and raundabouts. :y
