Stereo upgrade
« on: 10 October 2007, 09:23:12 »

Just got a 2nd hand ccr 2006 with code off eBay from a 1999 facelift to replace the cassette only model on my 2000 2.0 CD facelift.

Will it just be a matter of pulling leads and pushing the new unit in or will anything need to be adapted or programmed?

I guess it should slot straight in. I assume it wasn't from a BOSE system? They are configured for low level outputs to drive the amplifier, I believe.

Thats not the original radio then....it should have had a single slot CD player. I have only seen them fitted to base model Corsas.

You will obviously need the radio code if required.

Only if its been previously configured for BOSE will it need any reconfiguring.  If it does need reconfiguring, Marks_DTM_Calib is in Nottingham, and has the equipment to do it.

Got it fitted in ok and all works but is very fussy about which cd's (not copies) that it reads, up to now tried 6 cd's only takes two, possibly needs a clean?

Anybody know how or do i have to buy a cleaner/ any recommendations?

^^^^^^^^^^^^
They are notoriously fragile  :'(

Not sure what to suggest re cleaning though unfortunately.

ALSO, for anyone else considering a CCR2006 upgrade, it has a different cage to the lower spec models so make sure you get one supplied (aside from confirming it's in full working order!).

So thats why I struggled to fit it in!

It can be done with the aid of a file and of course a lot of swearing
