Carlton Estate.

 :)I know it's not a mig but hoping for a printout page or advice on o/s/r handbrake mechanism.
    Basically there is'nt one! It's been ragged out. Pinched up n/s/r so handbrake on one side but need whole assembly for o/s.
       Had alook at the leccy windows. None work. All switches glow yellow as they should. If you press any of the 4 buttons the yellow lights dim but nothing happens so we have power. Is there a central relay/module, where is it & could the fault lie here?
       Cheers, Guy. :y

 :)Cheers Markey. All 4 Have packed up together. Someone's had the switches out & there are relays in the console so someones had a go already. Also now no power to switches, all dead.
     The plot thickens....... ::)

If the lights are dimming I'd say the feed to the power window circuit is dodgy. A bit of resistance there that's stopping it passing enough current to run the motors. Unlikely that all 4 motors have given up at once. Might be worth changing the fuse for the leccy windows. Even if it's not blown maybe it's gone high resistance or has dirty blades? Also, check for any melted wire / plastic in the fuse box around that circuit. You could try taking a door card off and feeding a motor directly with 12 volts just to prove it's good.

Not sure if there's a current limiting circuit for safety on those windows to prevent the motors drawing excessive current. Might be worth tracing through the wiring diagram from fuse to doors to see what else could be causing the problem. As markie says, the wires in the doors are worth checking too as they could have suffered from being flexed as the door opens and closes.

 :)Cheers. All comments taken on board. Car's gotta be ready Monday, still got anti roll bar drop links, fluid & filter service to do so see who much times left to faff about with the windies. Might run a direct feed & earth to drivers window for now via a switch & in line fuse so at least one works. Will remove drivers door card to do this & hope to find main relay there. I've got it in my haed theres a "mother board" relay somewhere & that's where the fault lies. As KW said all 4 motors ca'nt pack up together! :y

I think what you're looking for is part of the passenger side window switches.

 :)Oh well. Had no joy with windows but my mate who owns it now is at Grimsby college doing elec/mech engineering so should get it sorted there. Still he went off happy today, oil/filters changed, full service & a rather' good valet, (wet vax inside) plugs etc. Ticks over lovely now & does'nt stall on selecting drive from cold. You could stand a spoon in the muck we drained out the sump. :'( Why do people let any car get in such a state?) Looked a handsome car once polished & all glass/blacks done, really freshened up in /out. Should do a couple of years gentle use.
     Thanks for all your input. Guy.
