Front Door Speaker adaptors...
« on: 15 January 2008, 18:43:50 »

Hi all, I have a pre-face lift omega ('97) and want to replace the front door speakers with after market ones as the standard speakers are blown...

I have heard that you can fit 16.5cm speakers in the front doors - with adapters of course.

I was just wondering what my best option would be. I have seen the plastic autoleads speaker pod adaptors - however...I have looked at even the most shallow fit speakers and am worried that they would still get in the way of the window.

DOES ANYBODY HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH CHANGING THE FRONT DOOR SPEAKERS - IF SO WHAT DID YOU DO???
Cheers!!  :D

I have come across people who have used the adaptors for the Corsa with success.

Personally I would go find an Elite and get the 2 front door speakers out and do a straight swap.

As standard speakers they are generally excellent.
If you fit aftermarket ones they will generally need external amplification to sound reasonable (they have stiffer cones that require more power than any headunit will provide regardless of manufacturers claims ;))

The Corsa ones worked in my facelift with a 6mm spacer between adaptor and speaker. It was very tight so speaker choice would have to be very careful!

Shop that sold me the speakers swore blind they had fitted them with the Vectra adaptors which aren't angled, unlike the Corsa ones. It did cross my mind that they may have been talking about the pre-facelift Omega. :-/

Hello all...
I bit the bullet and purchased some of the Autoleads (model no 9022) adaptors from Halfords.

They fit perfectly - really easy to fit with no messing around - and the speakers sound awesome!!!!

Now for the rear doors!!!!!! :-?

Cheers for your replies everyone!!!
